Vaillant, Edouard
(1840-1915)
   socialist
   Born in Vierzon, Edouard Vaillant was a member of the First International and of the Paris commune, after whose fall he was forced to seek refuge in Great Britain (1871-80). One of the directors of the Second International, he moved from Blanquism to Marxism, then to reformist socialism. An associate of jean jaurès, Vaillant, at the beginning of World War I, gave his support to the Union sacrée.
